- 1.0 out of 5 stars from D. -- No substance, a lot of hype : Unfortunately, as an African American woman, the expectations I had for this book were a few good vegan recipes and some personal stories of triumph. Instead, what I received was a lengthy discourse on the idea of God as a genie and Mrs. Brown as someone who claims to have been given by God lifelong premonitions, which have made her (in her view) god-like. Although Mrs. Brown does not claim to be a Christian and openly disregards religion, her instagram persona, her book and her speech are heavily laced with familiar quotes that Christian's are often heard saying. It is unfortunate that she has used her platform solely to garner more fame, popularity, and influence rather than truly point people to the only one who can give them peace in life; I'm sorry but Mrs. Brown is not the answer to the world's issues or why you haven't succeeded in life. Jesus Christ is the only one who died for the sins of this world and is the only one who can truly feed your soul and lead you to everlasting joy, love, and freedom. I loved this book from the 1st moment I saw it and believe me it has not disappointed me. I’ll read it again, and yet again, and most probably I’ll keep it close to me in case I need to go back to it. Highly highly recommended.
